Facts and Frivolous Bits
-
I hold an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from VCFA -- an amazing place with amazing people!
-
I have a Master's in Education and taught preschool, first, and second grades -- I love kids of all ages!
-
I have a Bachelor's in German, which I've never used except to graduate on time from Villanova University after spending not just one, but two semesters at the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
-
I dabbled in curriculum writing and supervising student teachers before turning to writing made-up stories "for real."
-
I had two short stories published (teaser is here: Blind Spot), and a third that was chosen as a semi-finalist in a Screen Craft contest (another teaser here: Lorelei).
-
I've completed five novels so far: three YA and two adult romance. None are published as of yet -- yet being the operative word!
-
I have an amazingly supportive husband and three phenomenal kids (one who built this website!), all of whom I whole-heartedly adore.
-
My mom is always my first reader, and I'm forever surprised she likes my work! And my mother-in-law has been my loyal cheerleader!
-
My husband and I are partners in a restaurant group here in Charleston, which currently has three different restaurants and a fourth on the way -- you might see me post about them on IG and FB.
-
I'm learning to play the piano as a total newbie -- never played an instrument, aside of flute in middle school, which doesn't really count because I flubbed my way through most of it. Still flubbing, but at least not getting graded on it!
-
I speak German fluently, know a tiny bit of French, and keep hoping that I will intuitively absorb Spanish. The magical osmosis isn't working so well, but Duolingo is!
-
Romance is my obsession. Well, at least since COVID and the ever-increasing political contemptuousness. I want to read things that lift me up and create things that add to the positivity. I think we need more coming together, more common ground, more love. As someone who truly believes in the power of love, I feel I've found my niche.

My dad snapped the photo above in our Brooklyn backyard when I was five. I'm sporting the ever-fashionable dirndl sent by my grandmother in Germany.
